Alex Ho teaches run and bootcamp classes in San Francisco, and he’s one of three coaches in our Half Marathon Training Program. He’s all about unleashing your inner athlete to build physical and mental confidence (consider us fans). Here’s a bit more about Alex, our featured instructor of the week.
What do you want people to feel when they take your class?
AH: Energized and strong.
What are the three most important things you tell your clients/students?
AH: Breathe, listen to your body, and stay aware.
What’s your philosophy?
I believe that everyone has the capability to become an athlete, it’s all about finding a type of movement or sport that you love to do. My goal is to help people revise their health through exercise, nutrition, and mental awareness of their actions and surroundings.
What’s your motto to live by?
AH: Plan for the future but live for the day.
Travel season is coming! Where’s your favorite place to travel?
AH: So, far my favorite was a trip to Chamonix, France where I did a race. It ran from Italy to France around Mont Blanc and had some of the most beautiful sites I’ve ever seen.
What are you favorite books and podcasts?
AH: “Start with Why“, “Shantaram”, “4 Hour Work Week”. My favorite podcast is Stuff You Should Know.
What are three things you love?
AH: I love my life, running, and the people I surround myself with.
What gear can you not live without?
AH: My running shoes! Almost everything can be done with bodyweight
Who’s your favorite person to follow on social?
What are you favorite spots in San Francisco?
AH: For healthy, I like Spinnerie on Polk street. Good local ingredients and killer sandwiches. In general, The Presidio, Lafayette Park, Nick’s Tacos, the Biergarten in Hayes Valley.

What’s an experience that has changed your perspective on life?
AH: I had a personal training client who was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease at age 52. It’s been hard to watch her mentally decline and see the hardships that her family is going through as well. It’s an experience that makes me really appreciate my health and to look at every day as an opportunity to do something I love.
